Voting analysis
Rashida Tlaib would bar artificial intelligence data centres from federal land. Hers is one of five bills across this site aimed at those buildings — the others handle siting disclosure, grid load forecasting, community impact and an outright moratorium, and they come from members of both parties in five different states. A federal-lands prohibition is the version available to a legislature that controls a landlord rather than a permitting authority.
Of the 50 most recent of those, 50 currently sit at Introduced.
Medical debt on a credit file
Another of her filings disapproves the consumer bureau's withdrawal of guidance on medical debt collection and consumer reporting. Medical debt is the category people acquire without choosing to, often without knowing the amount in advance, and whether it may sit on a credit report determines whether an illness also becomes a housing problem. Several members here have used that same disapproval instrument in the same reverse direction; this is the one pointed at that question.
A third would prohibit new immigration detention models — warehouses, modular buildings, tent systems, processing centres. Legislating against a form of construction rather than a policy is a way of constraining capacity directly.
Sponsored bills carry the Congressional Research Service's own subject classification. Rashida Tlaib's cluster into: Finance and Financial Sector (8), Immigration (5), Crime and Law Enforcement (4), Environmental Protection (4), Housing and Community Development (4), International Affairs (4).
Where she broke ranks
Almost entirely by refusal, and on measures her caucus backed: daylight saving, a children's online safety act, a community bank deposit bill, the military construction and veterans spending act, a resolution memorialising officers killed on duty, an organised retail crime measure and a shrimping bill. All passed. Two crossings, on war powers and fuel retailing, both failed.
